The base of the statue is roughly seven and a half cubic yards of concrete, with a foundation fastened in a three-foot diameter column, six-feet deep. Casey Tibbs was a six-time world saddle bronc riding winner, and popular Western icon, with his signature silhouette of a cowboy on a bucking horse, cementing the iconic imagery for years to come and bringing national attention to rodeo as a legitimate American sport. Tibbs later died on Jan. 28, 1990.
